Climate
A mild winter and spring led to a slight advance in the vegetative recovery phase. Significant rainfall occurred in May and June, with regular flowering in early June. The summer was hot and dry.
This vintage was contrary to recent trends, with ripening delayed due to a cool and rainy September.
With a bit of patience and bold choices, we harvested grapes with a beautiful balance of ripeness and freshness.
Harvest
Hand-harvested on October 10th.
Vinification
The grapes are lightly crushed in a gramola and pressed whole cluster in vertical presses. After a night of cold settling, the must was racked and fermented in barrel and amphora. No malolactic fermentation.
Aging
Aged for 5 months in barrel and amphora with weekly bâtonnage on fine lees.
