€ 1.030,00 INC. VATThe 2016 Latour has everything on the nose: blackberry, graphite, crushed stone, subtle estuarine scents—it’s all here, and exquisitely defined, too. This corresponds exactly to previous bottles tasted at the property. The palate is medium-bodied with life-affirming graphite-tinged black fruit delivered with a sense of symmetry, mineral-driven with a captivating, precise finish. Utterly sublime. The 2021 Masseto is a stunner. It also shows how much the estate has evolved in recent years. I was reminded of that recently when I drank the 2001, considered by many observers, including this one, to be one of the greatest wines ever made here. The 2021 represents a move towards a more refined style. There’s less of the bombastic intensity and extraction that were once the norm here. I remember young vintages that were impossible to taste young. The 2021, on the other hand, is an absolute delight. Crushed flowers, spice, blood orange and bright, red-toned fruit all grace the palate. Floral aromatics and saline underpinnings are at times reminiscent of the Cabernet Franc found in the 2019 and 2020, but the 2021 is back to the classic 100% Merlot. Readers will find a Masseto built on linear energy more than volume. The 2021 is quite simply the most exquisite, refined young Masseto I have ever tasted. Aging was 24 months in 100% new French oak.

The 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc was very impressive from barrel. Now in bottle, it has a complex, finely delineated bouquet with dried white flowers and a touch of beeswax percolating through the green apple and Conference pear aromas. The palate is quite harmonious and tensile, full of energy and focused, with a dab of stem ginger popping up on the finish. There’s real sustain on the close here—a superb Haut-Brion Blanc.
Neal Martin. Tasting date: November 2023 96 pts© 2026 Vinous MediaThe 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc is dense, powerful and explosive. Even so, I suspect it, like the other 2021 whites in the Clarence Dillon stable, is going through a closed phase. The textural richness and volume are evident, though. Slate, crushed rocks, citrus peel, white pepper and mint all come alive in the glass. Sauvignon Blanc energy drives the aromatics and an overall feel of tension, while the mid-palate richness of the 55% Sémillon is felt in the resonating breadth of the finish.

The 2021 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc has a nuanced, understated bouquet with yellow plum, Anjou pear and hints of honeysuckle—very low key and tightly knit, yet very well-defined. The palate is beautifully balanced with a tangy entry and a citric bead of acidity, revealing orange rind and kaki fruit toward the finish that is full of tension. This is neck and neck with the Haut-Brion Blanc at the moment, yet may surpass it in the long-run.
Neal Martin. Tasting date: November 2023 96,5 ptsAdd to cart© 2026 Vinous MediaThe 2021 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc marries the natural energy of this cool year with lovely mid-palate creaminess and texture. Understated yet persistent, the 2021 presents a gorgeous display of pear, white flowers and mint, along with a subtle touch of oak that frames the finish. Today, the 2021 is quite a bit less expressive than it was en primeur. It was also bottled in May 2022 (versus May 2023 for the reds) and may be in a closed period, which is not unusual for wines from cold years. We shall see.

MAGNUM. This wine has just been release so no score yet. Oddero recognized the importance of this vintage and kept the wine in their cellars for 15 years to ripen and therefore waited till this wine is at its full potential. 2010 needs no further explanation, the best year solar in this century, especially in Barolo region. It has produced some of the great wines and this is one of them, a masterpiece. I would give it 100 pts.

€ 260,00 INC. VATThe 2019 Les Forts de Latour has an open nose, strangely perhaps a little more expressive than the 2020 Pauillac de Latour at the moment. Scents of blackberry, cassis and iris flower unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed stone infusing the black fruit. This has attained more linearity since I encountered it in January 2023. The 2019 will give two or three decades of pleasurable drinking.Neal Martin. The 2021 Aile d'Argent has a more Sauvignon-driven bouquet with lime flower, orange pith, a hint of grapefruit and gooseberry. The palate is well-balanced with a spicy entry, just a hint of ginger, well-balanced with a saline finish. This is absolutely delicious.

Signum Ætnæ is the predestined. The seal of the volcano, the favorite son of mountain viticulture, the precious gift of a vineyard that survived the fearsome phylloxera, witness to a thousand-year-old activity that has resisted time and intense eruptive activity, which has come to us thanks to the tireless work of hundreds of heroes, bearers of ancient knowledge and staunch defenders of a very rich anthropological and cultural heritage.

The 2021 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc was one of the best wines that I tasted, white or red, during en primeur. Now in bottle, it has a captivating bouquet of mineral-rich citrus fruit that represents one of the most complex I have encountered in any vintage. The palate is well-balanced with a beautiful line of acidity and a slightly resinous texture, very complex and intense on the finish that lingers in the mouth. What a fabulous dry white Bordeaux this will become.
Neal Martin. Tasting date: November 2023 96 ptsAdd to cart© 2026 Vinous MediaThe 2021 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a dense, powerful dry white. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2021 is going to need quite a bit of time to be at its best. Today, the wine's textural intensity and some oak are front and center. The 2021 is a Blanc of substance and real character. I can't wait to see how it ages.

Blackberries, menthol, sage, stone dust and cloves define the youthfully restrained 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto. This flows across the palate with ease, silky with depths of ripe raspberry and sour cherry as fine-grained tannins saturate toward the close. It finishes spicy and long, structured yet lively while stimulating the imagination with its future potential. Hints of cocoa, lavender and current leaf linger, seeming to last for well over a minute. Color impressed me.

Golden yellow. Rich bouquet of baked apple, vanilla custard and clove, with a complicating note of spicy botrytis. Creamy but refined tropical fruits are complemented by refreshing salts and toasted pine nuts. At once succulent and full, finishing with reverberating length but not quite the same degree of elegance as the finest auslese.

Even in the new style favored by Veglio today, the Gattera shows its natural breath along with a decidedly dark expression of La Morra.
